Nolcha Fox

I fell in love with storytelling long before I could read or write. I would listen, spellbound, as my grandmother told me stories about her escape from Russia and her life as an orphan.

Her stories smelled of lilac and sun-speckled dust, and tasted of borsht and multi-colored jello. Because of my grandmother, all my stories float around food at some point.

Most of my adult life has revolved around technical and business writing (because both my grandfathers were independent, practical men who taught me the value of keeping a roof over my head). On the side, I've been a magazine editor, and I still edit screenplays and novels for my friends. But what I love is writing short fiction.

The stories I wrote and narrate here are a tribute to my grandmother.
