In this chapter titled "Vaakuvaadham" (Argument) Paranjothi receives a letter from Mahendra Pallava to come to Kanchi immediately with Mamallar. He also writes to Paranjothi to arrest Mamallar if he refuses to come. Mamallar is agitated on seeing this letter, yet he agrees to come to Kanchi since the Vaatapi army is very close to Kanchi now.
