Mixed Messages 1

Duration 34m 16s

mp3 download

For the kick-off event for Mixed Messages, the South Asian Women's Creative Collective's Literary Festival, acclaimed writer
Amitav Ghosh
read from his latest book,
Incendiary Circumstances
while
Vijay Seshadri
read prose and poems from
The Long Meadow
.

Both writers share many similarities--both are professors of Indian background, and of the same generation--yet they are profoundly different in their approach to the world, and to their writing. While it's tempting to do so, one cannot simply boil it down to "one grew up in the East, the other in the West."
